Least EnjoyableMost things of being in Exploring Computer Science, I enjoyed but there was one thing that I didn''t enjoy a lot which was google sketchup. It was very hard being creative and imagining what to make and create which I sort of struggle with in school is being creative. The program was also very new meaning that I would have to spend a lot of time on the program so that I could fully understand it but its difficult with the schedule I had this year. I hope to one day actually enjoy using google sketchup but for now it wasn't the most enjoyable program to use for me. Most Enjoyable The most enjoyable thin in computer science, was being able to learn and be more proficient in my coding. I was able to learn coding which interest me a lot. Coding is something that I found was interesting because one can create anything from a simple language. The more time spent learning and actually coding made my own passion for it grow more because I was able to create something with simple commands and my own creativity. Another thing that I enjoyed about the year was being work with others and learn how to solve technical issues. Reflection ( year-end): One of the things I liked best about being in computer science is being able to grow my leadership and communication skills with both Gertz staff and students. Having communication skills are one of the biggest key factors when working with technology because it requires in depth thinking and brainstorming of ideas. Some of my challenges of the year was working with google sketchup. It was difficult for me to envision the sculpture that I wanted to create than actually building the structure. As a student, I grew to ask more questions about most things because while troubleshooting or fixing technology there are different possibilities of solutions to fix any problem. As a person, I learned that patience is key. I have very little patience when it comes to most things but when it comes to technology I know that I need to wait because if I don’t the result would be even worse. In the future, I plan to teach my peers especially the Gertz Nerds about coding html. Knowing any code is beneficial as a skill set for them because many are interested in technology in which coding is one of the major component in a field of computer science. Me: Hey mom, do you remember how a the end of 10th grade I said that I was nervous because I was taking computer science and that I might not be good in the class because of my lack of knowledge
Mother: Yeah, I do remember and you were saying that you wouldn't understand anything but I would always tell you that you could do anything you want to do if you are really passionate about it
Me: Yeah but I would just like to say that I was wrong and that you were right because I have learned so many things in the class that I would expect to learn about technology
Mother: I told you. I always knew that you would be interested in something with technology because that's all that you do and use
Me: I have always been interested but taking this class made me realize that I would want to be in the stem field when in college and a future career
Mother: Well you can do whatever you want and your dad and myself would help you achieve whatever you want to be when you grow up to be but you have to still go to college. That's all that we ask you is to go to college for 4 years and then you can do anything that you aspire to be
Me: I feel that the computer science class has been beneficial because I learned a lot about technology and other life skills
